JASPER Offers Fuel Components with Complete Diesel Engines

Jasper Engines & Transmissions is excited to announce that they will offer fuel components on many popular complete diesel engine applications.

These components, including pumps, turbochargers and injectors, will be available for the following complete diesel engines: GM 6.5L and 6.6L Duramax, International 444 and 6.0L, Cummins ISB and Mercedes 2.7L.  “Anytime a customer inquires on any of these complete engines, we will offer to quote the fuel system components as well,” says Ryan Dooley, JASPER Diesel Fuel Room Manager.

“We feel this a great opportunity for our installers to purchase remanufactured diesel fuel components at the same time they purchase the complete engine,” says Matt Weinzapfel, JASPER Diesel Division Manager.

A JASPER remanufactured complete diesel engine typically includes the block, head, crank, cam, rods, valve train, oil pump, oil pan & pickup tube, oil filter, oil cooler, inner & outer gear covers and finishing gaskets, based on application.

“We’re want to become that one-stop shop for the diesel engine installer, added Dooley.”

Thorough Diesel Testing Assures Quality

diesel-dyno1

Why do we dynamometer test every JASPER Remanufactured Running Complete Diesel? We put our diesels through rigorous testing processes to assure you trouble-free performance of both mechanical and electronically-controlled engines.

Using the latest in scan tools, such as the Rotunda and Tech 2, JASPER tests engines under varying loads to simulate in-the-vehicle operation.  The testing phase is concluded with an engine run-in and inspection to assure optimal performance and operating efficiency.

Keep in mind that testing is standard process and may vary depending on the design of a specific engine.  For example, checking the turbo boost wouldn’t apply to a naturally aspirated 7.3 International engine or the contribution test wouldn’t apply to a non-electronic engine etc.  The battery of tests include:

  • Oil Pressure at idle & full load
  • Water Temperature
  • Oil Temperature
  • Horsepower at varying RPM’s including full load
  • Full Load RPM
  • Low Idle RPM
  • Valve Train lubrication
  • Fuel Pressure
  • Turbo boost
  • Crankcase Pressure
  • Inspect for water leaks
  • Inspect for fuel leaks
  • Inspect for intake & exhaust leaks
  • Black Light test for oil leaks (during final run in)
  • Timing recheck
  • Opacity check - snap test & full load
  • Buzz test
  • Contribution test
  • Sensor checks

Remember, every Running Complete is live run on the dynamometer, no exceptions.

JASPER Makes Updates to GM 6.5L Fuel System

65-lapping

Each injector body and intermediate disk of the GM 6.5L TE Running Complete is lapped on a lapping machine to help eliminate any type of warpage and safeguard against leaks.

Jasper Engines & Transmissions, the nation’s leader in remanufactured drivetrain components, has incorporated the following updates into the GM 6.5L TE Running Complete diesel engine fuel system to prevent unnecessary failures.

“The weakest link on the 6.5L injection pump is the pump mounted driver, or PMD,” says Ryan Dooley,  JASPER Fuel Room Manager.  “To guard against unnecessary failures, JASPER installs 100% new Stanadyne PMDs across the board.”

Another common problem with this engine is a “hard start” or “no start” situation, stalling or smoking problems.  These problems may be the result of a defective pump armature.  To help prevent this problem, JASPER installs 100% new armatures, each equipped with a special coating to increase pump longevity.

Additional updates to the 6.5L TE Running Complete center around the injectors.  “Every injector body and intermediate disk is lapped on a lapping machine to help eliminate any type of warpage and safeguard against leaks,” says Dooley.  JASPER has also developed a process to vacuum check the return post of each injector.  “We’ve discovered there is an issue with fuel leaks at these return posts,” added Dooley.  “When we vacuum check these posts, 20% of the time we find these posts leak and have to be discarded.”

Finally, JASPER uses 100% new center sections in the turbo charger.  “Due to the design of the center section of this turbo, debris will lodge in the cavities, making it virtually impossible to clean during the remanufacturing process,” says Dooley.  Use of the new center sections helps prevent this type of problem.  The GM 6.5L TE Running Complete is covered by a Two-Year Parts and Labor warranty, and a One-Year warranty on the fuel system.

JASPER Expands Caterpillar Engine Upgrade

The updated oil cooler and oil filter bypass spring (on the left, compared to original spring) is used in all JASPER remanufactured 3116 Electronic, 3126 Electronic and C7 Caterpillar engines, regardless of their original production date.

Jasper Engines & Transmissions has taken a parts upgrade that Caterpillar has made to select engines produced after a certain date and we have expanded and implemented the upgrade to include a broader range of remanufactured products.

JASPER includes a later-than-original style oil cooler and oil filter bypass spring, on all 3116 Electronic, all 3126 Electronic and all C7 JASPER Remanufactured Caterpillar engines.

“The primary reason for this upgrade is to maintain cleaner oil in the system by allowing less oil to bypass the filter during cold starting conditions,” says Fred Ernst, JASPER Diesel Marketing Manager. “This in turn forces more oil through the filter during that time. It also allows more oil flow through the cooler, resulting in maintaining cooler oil temperatures during normal engine operation.”

Where Caterpillar implemented the improvement on engines built after a certain date, JASPER makes the upgrade on any of the above-mentioned engines, regardless of their original production date.

“It’s another value added to our diesel product line in an effort to improve quality at no extra cost to the customer,” added Ernst.

The GM 6.5L TE Running Complete is covered by a 2-Year Parts and Labor warranty, and a One-Year warranty on the fuel system. Contact Jasper Engines & Transmissions at 1-800-827-7455, or www.jasperengines.com for more information and availability.

Jasper Engines & Transmissions is offering a special version of its remanufactured Complete 6.0L Internheadstud21ational Diesel engine for select applications.

This unique engine comes equipped with special head studs instead of standard head bolts for the following applications:

2003 Ford F250, F350, F450, F550 trucks with automatic transmission.

2004 Ford F250, F350, F450, F550 trucks with automatic transmission.

2005-2006 Ford F250, F350, F450, F550 trucks with automatic transmission.

“These engines are not being marketed as High Performance engines and by no means are we either encouraging or endorsing the use of any performance enhancing changes to the engine,” says Fred Ernst, JASPER Diesel Marketing Director. “But rather we recognize there seems to be a market for this because of some problems customers have seen with the OEM products in the field.”

“It is important to point out because of JASPER’s machining & assembly processes, latest head gaskets, all new head bolts & general improvements we incorporate into our standard remanufactured 6.0L engines, we do not experience the head gasket/head bolt related issues with our remanufactured engines,” added Ernst. “This is being offered only as an option for the customer who is less confident with the standard head bolt design.”

These engines are readily available for exchange, and are covered by JASPER’s standard 1-Year warranty for Complete engines. These special versions may be expanded to other 6.0L International applications in future months.
