Beginning employment with a new company can be very challenging to say the least! You’re in an unfamiliar place with people you’ve never met…and trying to learn a new job on top of it all! That’s a lot to absorb at the start of a new career!

At Jasper Engines & Transmissions, we recognize it can be difficult moving to a new company! That’s why we’ve created our BUDS Program! With our BUDS Program, new Associate-Owners to JASPER are provided a BUD.

So what, exactly, is a BUD? A BUD is a fellow Associate-Owner who was also new to JASPER at one time. The BUD meets with the new Associate-Owner to help them become more comfortable in their new environment. The BUD will get to know you on a more personal level and answer any questions you may have as you transition into the JASPER culture. The BUD will help you understand many of our policies and procedures as well as introducing you to other members of the JASPER family.

Our BUDS embrace our Servant Leadership philosophy…because they are here to serve you!!!

Commitment to Our Military

Among the heroes of our great country are the brave Men and Women in Uniform who nobly protect us so that we may enjoy the many freedoms the United States of America has to offer! Those who are currently serving on active military duty, along with those who have served previously, bring with them the primary qualities JASPER is seeking in Associate-Owners to join our team: Loyalty, Dedication, Work Ethic, Teamwork, Punctuality and Problem-

Solving skills, just to name a few.

We’re honored that approximately 6% of JASPER’s workforce is made up of Associate-Owners who possess some form of military background! JASPER is also pleased to be a proud supporter of the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR).

Additionally, JASPER hosts an annual Veterans Day Luncheon to simply say “Thank You.” to these great Americans! Also, JASPER posts the names of our military Associate-Owners in various break rooms and other areas at our facilities. We know that our military is essential to the strength of our nation and the well-being of our communities. It’s that type of commitment that also makes these folks a great fit for the JASPER team!

Community/Family Involvement​

JASPER’s commitment to Family and Community is not just something we say, but something we truly believe in demonstrating each and every day!

Without a strong commitment to family, JASPER would not have the level of success we have today.  JASPER’s involvement with families takes a variety of forms:

  • Annual Summer Family Picnics:  Held at either Holiday World (a local, nationally known amusement attraction) or a local community park.
  • Kids/Grandkids Day:  A chance for children/grandchildren of our Associate-Owners to see where we work.
  • Movie Morning:  JASPER rents out a local movie theatre to provide an opportunity for Associate-Owners and their families to view one of a current selection of movies, courtesy of JASPER.
  • Turkeys:  Just prior to each Easter and Thanksgiving, all JASPER Associate-Owners receive a free turkey (frozen, of course!) to share with family and friends.
  • Easter Egg Hunt:  A fun activity for Associate-Owners and small children.
  • Wedding/Baby Gifts:  JASPER provides a special gift to help Associate-Owners celebrate a marriage or birth of a child.
  • Funeral Attendance and Support for the Family:  As often as possible, JASPER Associate-Owners and/or Supervisors attend the funeral of a direct relative (Father/Mother, Brother/Sister, Son/Daughter) of our Associate-Owners to show our support during this difficult time.

JASPER is also firmly committed to supporting our Associate-Owners and the communities in which they live.  We are a proud supporter of many area churches, charitable activities (Relay For Life, Anderson Woods Group Home and more!) as well as schools and many other groups.  We also hold fund-raisers at our facilities to assist our fellow Associate-Owners who may have an individual need for assistance.


How about having a couple of ways to earn additional income beyond your regular pay!

At JASPER, we’re always looking for better ways to perform our work… and we want every Associate-Owner to be involved in the process! As such, JASPER has developed a Continuous Improvement, or C.I., program. With our C.I. program, you simply complete a quick form on an idea you have, and if that idea is implemented, you can earn some extra cash!

Another great way to earn extra money is through our Associate-Owner Referral program! Our Associate-Owners are JASPER’s best recruiters… and we want to reward you for your efforts. Associate-Owners can earn up to $2,500 for referring a candidate who joins the JASPER team!

Onsite Health Clinic

At JASPER Health WoRx, we’ve flipped the traditional health clinic model upside down!  When you go to JASPER Health WoRx, your waiting time is very short (usually under 5 minutes!) which allows our caring staff to spend more time with you!

Whether it’s our Jasper (Wernsing Road) or Crawford County Health WoRx location, Associate-Owners, Spouses and Dependents only pay $10 per visit…AND prescriptions for medications that are maintained are available on-site for just $4!!!

JASPER Health WoRx...

  • Offers treatment for flu, cold and sinus problems and a wide variety of other physical ailments.  Health WoRx also provides blood work and school physicals among other  services.
  • Is more than in-patient visits!  Our Nurse Practitioners also perform Outreach services, where we’ll meet with Associate-Owners in their work environment to discuss current and potential health and wellness needs.
  • Can provide referrals to many of the area’s leading specialists as well… and we conduct extensive outreach efforts to help maintain a healthy lifestyle!
  • Has flexible hours to meet the needs of our Associate-Owners, Spouses and Dependents… and you don’t have to be on JASPER’s Healthcare plan to enjoy the benefits of Health WoRx!

Healthcare, and the quality of it, is very important to everyone in considering the best place to work.  Here at Jasper Engines & Transmissions, we recognize the importance of being and staying healthy…and that’s why JASPER Health WoRx means so much to us!!!

Safety - Voluntary Protection Program (VPP)​

At Jasper Engines and Transmissions, our first, and most important core philosophy is Safety. Without creating and supporting a safe working environment in all areas of our company, JASPER would not be able to achieve our goals and maintain our core principles by which we operate.

One of primary ways JASPER promotes safety is through our participation in OSHA’s Voluntary Protection Program, or VPP. The VPP promotes effective worksite-based safety and health on a voluntary rather than mandated basis. The fact that it is voluntary shows our company’s commitment to assuring the safest work environment for our Associate-Owners. Approval into VPP is OSHA’s official recognition of the outstanding efforts of employers and employees who have achieved exemplary occupational safety and health.

VPP has two levels employers can reach, Merit and Star, with Star being the highest level. Two of JASPER’s primary manufacturing locations (Wernsing Road in Jasper and Crawford County) have achieved the Star status! Only 80 employers in the entire state of Indiana are VPP Star Level facilities and we have two of them! We will be applying for VPP status for our Power Drive facility in Jasper now that it has met the requirement of being in operation for one year.

While achieving this status is great…it’s what we take from the experience that’s much more valuable. It is because of our high level of Management Commitment and Associate Involvement that we’ve created a work environment worthy of reaching and maintaining VPP Star Status! However, the journey to safety is never-ending. JASPER will continue to strive toward the ultimate goal of zero injuries or incidents.

Steady Work Schedule

The economy can be unpredictable. That’s bad enough, but when your weekly work schedule becomes unpredictable, that’s an entirely different story. JASPER realizes that a steady and consistent work schedule is a valuable benefit for our Associate-Owners. A consistent work schedule provides for a steady income, improved budgeting, family stability and happier, more fulfilled Associate-Owners. Since we were established in 1942, JASPER has maintained a steady work schedule, and we have never dropped below 40 hours per week. We all want a better life, and steady, consistent work weeks can help to provide just that. We are proud of the fact that our Associate-Owners are confident in knowing that they have both a work schedule and a company on which they can depend.

JASPER is a growing company that is focused on developing our Associate-Owners by providing exceptional training programs, cross training and advancement opportunities. JASPER also offers training for Associate-Owners who are interested in pursuing leadership roles as well as Associate-Owners who just want to expand their knowledge of our products and processes.
