Picture taken at the 2010 Syracuse Nationals.
My, how time flys. I came across this image this morning as I was browsing through our graphics archive. Back in 2010, I had the opportunity to transport our Rolling Showcase and represent JASPER at the Syracuse Nationals, which spans across the New York State Fairgrounds annually. I can't believe that was five years ago. I'm not sure if our concept of time is perceived at an accelerated rate as we age, or if it's just the fact that new technology promotes shortened attention spans compounded by our heightened ability to multitask.
Well, as the story goes, I met some really nice people in upstate New York that week including some of our customers, Dick and Carol Fracasse. That's their '68 Ford Mustang Fastback equipped with a JASPER remanufactured 347 stroker engine in the picture above. While it's true today's vehicles have a multitude of creature comforts, it's nice to see classic car enthusiasts restore these beautiful vintage muscle cars, as we are excited to be part of that continued history. Let us know if we can assist in providing an authentic numbers-matching build or performance upgraded engine for your special project car – 800-827-7455 ext. 13987.
In the next week we will prepare a new group of JASPER Associates to man the new showcase trailer along with its rolling displays, flat-screen monitors, literature and swag as anticipation builds for another great show. If you're in the Syracuse area July 17-19, stop in and check out all of the sweet rides, activities and, of course, pay the guys at the JASPER exhibit a visit. We look forward to seeing you there!

Indiana Governor, Mike Pence visited the Jasper Engines and Transmissions facilities on June 2nd as part of a tour of southwestern Indiana.
Governor Pence met with JASPER Chairman/ CEO Doug Bawel, Company President Zach Bawel, along with members of JASPER's Executive Committee, to discuss current political issues. Following their meeting, Governor Pence was given a personal tour of the Wernsing Road and Power Drive facilities.
The opening of JASPER's Power Drive facility comes on the heels of other good job reports in Indiana. Dubois county has the lowest unemployment rate in Indiana at 2.9%, well below the state average of 5.4%.
In describing the meeting, Bawel said, "The Governor was very impressed with JASPER's work ethic and, more importantly, the quality of the products our Associates remanufacture."

The Service Award winners were established by joint nominating efforts between Sourcing and Buyers in key areas including: Supplier Scorecard Results, “Can Do” Attitude, Sense of Urgency, Timely Responses, Problem Resolution, and High Level of Expertise.

“JASPER is proud to recognize all of these suppliers this year,” says Jay Nelson, JASPER Supplier Development-Sourcing Manager. “We have developed great relationships with many of our suppliers and they continue to be critical partners in the success of Jasper Engines & Transmissions. In the aftermarket industry, we must all continue to work together to provide the highest quality product; and price those products to provide the greatest value to the customer.”
This year's Pie in The Eye event raised over $1,000 for Dubois County Relay for Life, and was considered the most successful in the seven-year history of the fund-raiser.
The top three earners received a pie tossed by Chris Hochgesang, last year’s top recipient. Third place went to Austin Bolton, who received a banana cream pie. Tyler Kirkman was awarded a chocolate pie for his second place finish.
Associates from Indiana Tool & Die held several fundraisers to make sure Department Manager Dave Sutton got his just desserts. Their efforts paid off as Dave had $770 raised against him, which was a record for money raised for an individual Associate.
After receiving his strawberry pie for being the top Associate, Dave earned a second pie from Ryan Nelson, who won a raffle for the opportunity to “deliver” it.
“We definitely could not be making a difference in Dubois County Relay (for Life) without the efforts of our Associates,” said Cori Sturgeon, Pie in The Eye event coordinator. “This activity is the most fun we get to do for Relay for Life every year!”
This is how JASPER's new rolling billboards look on a RAM Promaster delivery van
(upper left), a Hino box truck (upper right) and on a 53' trailer (bottom).
JASPER's over-the-road fleet is getting a new look, as several new 53-foot trailers, box trucks and
delivery vans are put into service.
One side of the vehicle displays a discussion between an automotive technician and their customer
over an engine installation, while the opposite shows a transmission consultation. When motorists
see these rolling billboards pass by, they'll see a message asking them to contact their professional
technician about the millions of remanufactured products installed.
"We're trying to tell the general public that it is commonplace to install remanufactured products,"
said Mike Pfau, JASPER Advertising General Manager. "We want to direct these potential customers
to have their vehicles serviced by professional technicians."
